Disney+ has shared its first official glimpse of The Remarried Empress. The long-awaited K-drama adaptation was unveiled as part of the streamer’s newly revealed 2026 Korean lineup.
Released on January 22, the teaser confirms the fantasy romance will arrive in the second half of 2026, signaling to be one of Disney+’s most ambitious Korean productions yet.
The preview arrives months after Disney+ first announced the live-action adaptation in June last year. Since then, anticipation has steadily grown around how the hugely popular web novel and webtoon would come to life on screen.
The newly released footage offers a clear answer as viewers get sweeping palace interiors, intricate costumes, and stately court scenes. This sets a regal mood that closely mirrors the story’s European-inspired empires.
The Remarried Empress stars Shin Min Ah as Navier, the composed and politically astute empress of the Eastern Empire. Ju Ji Hoon plays Emperor Sovieshu, whose betrayal and demand for divorce shatters Navier’s carefully maintained world.
Lee Jong Suk steps into the role of Heinrey, the enigmatic prince of the Western Kingdom. Lee Se Young stars opposite him as Rashta, a former runaway slave whose rapid rise inside the imperial court sparks the drama’s central conflict.
Based on the bestselling web novel that later became a global blockbuster, the story follows Navier’s calculated response to betrayal and loss. She refuses to fade quietly into exile. Instead, she accepts the divorce on her own terms and chooses to remarry a rival empire’s prince. The decision sets off political tension, shifting alliances, and a sharp reordering of power inside the royal court.

Production began in late 2025, with filming reportedly taking place across Germany and the Czech Republic to capture the scale and architectural grandeur of the fictional empires.
Jo Soo Won directs the series, bringing his experience from character-driven hits like Pinocchio and I Can Hear Your Voice. The adaptation comes from Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choong Yeol.
The drama joins a growing slate of high-profile Korean originals at Disney+. This includes A Shop for Killers, along with upcoming titles such as Nine Puzzles, Low Life, and Tempest.
With The Remarried Empress, the streamer continues to bet big on webtoon-based storytelling, underlining its confidence in Korean fantasy dramas as a global draw.
