Lady Gaga is stepping off the stage and straight into high fashion chaos. The Oscar-winning performer is reportedly making an appearance in The Devil Wears Prada 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2006 cult classic. The news comes as Gaga juggles her globe-spanning Mayhem Ball Tour, with fans spotting her on set in Milan — where filming for the sequel is currently underway.
The pop icon’s reported role in the film marks her first major on-screen appearance since Joker: Folie à Deux, and a brief cameo earlier this year in Netflix’s Wednesday. Between sold-out performances at London’s O2 Arena and an upcoming show at Stockholm’s Avicii Arena, Gaga has carved out time for the fashion-fueled follow-up — an entirely fitting setting for a performer long associated with avant-garde couture and theatrical flair.
Directed once again by David Frankel and penned by returning screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, the sequel revisits the glossy but cutthroat world of Runway magazine. This time, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) faces a new challenge: staying relevant in the crumbling empire of print fashion while squaring off against her former assistant, Emily (Emily Blunt), now a formidable executive controlling the advertising dollars Priestly needs to survive.
Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs is also expected to return, though her place in Miranda’s world remains uncertain. At the end of the original film, Andy walked away from the magazine world — and Miranda’s grip — to pursue serious journalism. Whether she’s drawn back into fashion or faces her old boss once again remains to be seen.
The cast lineup reads like a fashion editorial in itself. Alongside Streep, Blunt, Hathaway, and Stanley Tucci reprising his role as the ever-loyal Nigel, newcomers include Kenneth Branagh as Miranda’s husband, plus Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley. The film also sees the return of producer Karen Rosenfelt and several supporting players from the original.
If Lady Gaga’s appearance turns out to be more than a fleeting cameo, it could prove to be a casting coup — merging one of pop culture’s boldest fashion icons with one of cinema’s most stylish franchises. Neither Gaga nor 20th Century Studios has commented on her involvement, but her on-set sightings have already ignited speculation about who she might play — an industry rival, a Runway cover star, or perhaps the kind of creative disruptor Miranda both fears and covets.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on May 1, 2026 — nearly twenty years after the original redefined fashion, ambition, and the color cerulean for an entire generation; and job titles that “a million girls would kill for.”
