There’s no shortage of K-pop commentary online—but few voices come with the grit, candour, and lived experience of Beomhan. This month, the Brooklyn-born artist, Harry Wu, steps behind the mic to host The K-Factor With Beomhan, a new iHeartPodcasts series premiering April 16 that peels back the glossy layers of the K-pop industry with something it’s rarely given: brutal honesty.
Unlike the hyper-managed narratives that usually surround idol life, The K-Factor draws from Beomhan’s firsthand experience as a K-pop trainee—four intense years in Korea marked by grueling routines, mental manipulation, and even homelessness. After going public about the darker side of his trainee days, Beomhan’s contract ended in controversy.
But instead of disappearing, he built a digital comeback story that now counts 2.7 million TikTok followers and a fiercely loyal fanbase. Now, that story evolves again—with a podcast that aims to spotlight the raw, unfiltered realities of an industry built on perfection.
The podcast promises more than just personal reflections. Expect hard-hitting conversations with names who’ve shaped the K-pop landscape from behind the scenes—songwriter Sebastian Garcia (aka Rufio Hooks), whose credits include BTS’s chart-smashing “Butter”; top choreographer James Kho; dancer Emily Lis, known for her work on trainee performance tapes; and Andrew Han, a former viral sensation who walked away from TikTok stardom to chase idol training.
And this isn’t a passive listen. The K-Factor invites fans into the process, offering interactive studio sessions, live Q&As, and event-based call-ins that align more with community-building than content broadcasting. That kind of connection isn’t just a feature—it’s the backbone of Beomhan’s appeal.
“I’m thrilled to be a voice that introduces K-pop and Korean culture to a new audience,” Beomhan said. “I can’t wait to showcase a different side of K-pop to our listeners. This is truly a dream come true and I’m excited to help bring K-pop to a new generation.”
Backed by veteran producers Damon Jones and Troy Marshall of Black Moon Records, Beomhan isn’t just podcasting—he’s gearing up for a full musical chapter. His upcoming EP Mind, Body and Soul drops soon, led by the April 26 single “D.U.M. (Dancing Until Moonlight),” with a U.S. tour scheduled for early fall.
The K-Factor With Beomhan lands April 16 across all major platforms and the iHeartRadio app. Don’t expect PR-polished fluff. This one’s coming straight from the source—and it’s about time.
