Thai actor Win Metawin has been appointed as the Asian Visionary Ambassador by the prestigious Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF50), one of the oldest and most influential film festivals in Asia.

Ahead of its 50th anniversary, organisers of the iconic film festival – set to run April 1 to 12, 2026 – announced in a press conference that Win will be one of the Asian Visionary Ambassadors alongside Taiwanese actress Gingle Wang, who won the ‘Best Lead Actress ‘award at the 22nd Taipei Film Festival.

Win who received the ‘AFA Rising Star Award’ at the 17th Asian Film Awards in 2024, before appearing as a presenter at the 18th Asian Film Awards in 2025, has now unlocked another historic global milestone in the entertainment world.

Over the past years, the ambassadors for the Hong Kong International Film Festival have been well-known actors from Hong Kong, making the appointment of foreign celebrities like Win and Gingle in the role a landmark moment in the long history of the festival.

Both the actors are set to make special appearances at the festival – joining Festival Ambassadors Angela Yuen and Tony Wu – to promote cross-cultural exchange and diversity in Asian cinema.

Win’s appointment as Asian Visionary Ambassador of HKIFF50 highlights a new chapter of Asian entertainment rooted in broader visions, influence and impact.

Having earned accolade after accolade in 2026 spanning an upcoming lead role in Thailand’s remake of the iconic series Scarlet Heart, luxury brand ambassadorships and high visibility at Fashion Week appearances, Win adds yet another feather to his cap with this new role.

His global fanbase celebrated his achievement, expressing pride and affection at his meteoric rise in Thai entertainment and beyond.
