Headlock release post-hardcore single “Fallin Apart”

Nashville-based alternative outfit Headlock refuses to package heartbreak into neat, radio-ready closure on their latest single “Fallin Apart.”

Instead, the band leans into the discomfort, turning confusion, regret and emotional unraveling into a high-energy post-hardcore anthem that feels less like a polished breakup track and more like a raw confession played through amps.

Built from members who come from distinct corners of the alternative music scene, Headlock has always thrived on contrast. Their sound moves between aggression and melody with ease.

On “Fallin Apart,” that dynamic becomes the backbone of the record. Crushing guitar layers and urgent rhythms collide with vulnerable vocal delivery, creating tension that mirrors the emotional whiplash of losing someone you didn’t expect to lose.

The track centers on hindsight that painful realization of understanding what you had only after it’s gone. Lyrically, it explores relationships where two people couldn’t evolve together despite trying. There’s no clear villain here, as the song acknowledges shared responsibility and mutual stagnation rather than pointing fingers.

What makes “Fallin Apart” stand out is its intentional lack of resolution. The band wrote it to feel unresolved, reflecting how breakups rarely offer clean conclusions: anger transitions into resentment, resentment sinks into grief, and grief circles back into doubt. The arrangement follows that emotional spiral, building intensity in waves before pulling back just enough to let the weight of the words land.

Vocals sit at the center of that push-and-pull energy. They confront the pain while also collapsing into it. Guitars crash in with post-hardcore urgency, then step aside to allow moments of fragile reflection. The structure keeps listeners suspended inside the chaos rather than offering escape.

The band shared that their hope with this release is simple but powerful:

“The main takeaway we want from this release in particular is for our audience to feel validated in their emotions despite them being conflicting, messy, or unconventional. There’s no handbook for how to handle your feelings when things go wrong… we’re just hoping that people can relate to our message and continue to build a community around the music we’re trying to create.”

That sense of community sits at the core of the single. “Fallin Apart” doesn’t romanticize heartbreak, it normalizes it. It embraces the discomfort and turns it into connection.

In doing so, Headlock proves that sometimes the most powerful songs are the ones that refuse to tie everything together.
