Three years after it rewired the rules of streaming crime dramas, Farzi is gearing up for another high-stakes run, and Shahid Kapoor just made it official.
On Tuesday, the actor set social media buzzing when he posted a candid picture with creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., the duo better known as Raj & DK. Kapoor kept the caption sharp and on-brand: “The fakers are back at it.” Within hours, the filmmakers doubled down, sharing an image of stacked currency notes with the teasing line, “Round 2 in progress.” That was all fans needed.
The Prime Video thriller, which premiered in 2023, marked Kapoor’s long-form streaming debut and quickly became one of Amazon Prime Video India’s most-watched originals.
The series followed Sunny (played by Kapoor), a small-time hustler with big artistic talent and even bigger ambition, who plunges into the shadowy world of counterfeit currency. His rise inevitably collides with the relentless task force officer played by Vijay Sethupathi, turning the chase into a layered battle of ego, morality and survival.
Season one thrived on its tonal balance — biting satire met slick crime drama, with sharp commentary on aspiration and economic disparity. The ensemble cast, including Raashii Khanna, Kay Kay Menon and Bhuvan Arora, added texture to a world where everyone had skin in the game.
Kapoor had previously warned audiences that the show’s scale demands patience. Post-production alone stretches across months, with extensive dubbing and technical polish before the global rollout. Now, with filming expected to begin in March 2026, the wait begins again.
Plot details remain tightly under wraps, but the message is clear: Sunny isn’t done printing chaos. And if Raj & DK’s currency-stacked teaser is any clue, the stakes — and the cons — are about to get bigger.
