Oscars 2026 nominees announced – See full list as ‘Sinners’ breaks record and Timothee Chalamet makes history

The nominations for the 98th Academy Awards are in – and Ryan Coogler’s vampire thriller Sinners has made history with the most number of nominations in Oscars history.

The musical horror film starring Michael B. Jordan has earned 16 overall nominations, breaking the record for the most nominations for a film held previously by All about Eve (1950), Titanic (1997) and La La Land (2016).

In addition to nominations in the best picture, directing, original screenplay list, individual nods have been earned by the cast Michael B. Jordan, Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo. 

Comedic political thriller One Battle After Another directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Leonardo DiCaprio follows with 13 nominations in total including nods for picture, directing, adapted screenplay and actors DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn.

Marty Supreme earned nine nominations with Timothee Chalamet’s earning yet another ‘Best Actor’ nod, making him the youngest actor in history – since Marlon Brando in 1954 – to be nominated three times in the Oscars best actor category.

In the Best Picture category, Marty Supreme was accompanied by Frankenstein and Sentimental Value both getting nine nominations each – as well as Hamnet which scored eight nominations. Bugonia also earned a best picture nom alongside a nod to Emma Stone in the ‘Best Actress’ category.

Both K-pop Demon Hunters – with “Golden” earning a ‘Best Original Score’ nomination – and Zootopia 2 have made the list for ‘Best Animated Feature’

The Oscars has also added a new category – “Best Casting” for the first in decades.

The awards will take place on 15 March, hosted by US comedian Conan O’Brien.
