Carly Rae Jepsen is officially adding a new title to her résumé — mom. The Canadian pop artist announced Monday that she and her husband, producer Cole M.G.N., are expecting their first child together.
The 39-year-old “Call Me Maybe” singer shared the news on Instagram with a series of intimate black-and-white photos showing the couple smiling as they cradle Jepsen’s baby bump. “Oh hi baby,” she wrote in the caption, punctuated with a heart emoji. Her husband, whose full name is Cole Marsden Greif-Neill, responded in kind with a flurry of heart-eyes emojis.
The announcement follows the couple’s October wedding in New York, which was profiled in Vogue. The feature revealed that Carly Rae Jepsen and Cole M.G.N. had been hoping to start a family even as they planned their ceremony. The pair first met as collaborators in 2021, began dating the following year, and got engaged in September 2023.
M.G.N., a Grammy-winning producer known for his work with Beck, Christine and the Queens, and Julia Holter, first connected with Jepsen while working on her 2023 album The Loveliest Time. Their collaboration on the track “So Right” became a cornerstone of their relationship. “This is our first little baby out in the world,” Jepsen told People last year, hinting that more joint creative projects were ahead.
The singer has continued to evolve well beyond her viral 2012 hit “Call Me Maybe.” She has cemented her reputation as one of pop’s most consistent and thoughtful voices. This summer, she marked the 10th anniversary of her cult-favorite album Emotion with a sold-out performance at Los Angeles’ Troubadour.
Jepsen and M.G.N. have not yet disclosed the baby’s due date, but judging by her radiant announcement, their next collaboration might just be their biggest one yet.
