Acclaimed British artist, producer, and filmmaker Until The Ribbon Breaks returns with a deeply personal release, unveiling the new single “YOU” via VERO Music. Accompanied by a heart-stirring official music video, “YOU” marks one of Pete Lawrie Winfield’s most vulnerable and stripped-back offerings to date.

The track follows the release of his critically praised third studio album “VISITOR” (stylized as V I S I T O R), a project shaped during Winfield’s early years of sobriety. While “VISITOR” explored creative rebirth through collaborations with Lucius, Homeboy Sandman, and La Pardo, “YOU” takes a minimalistic, emotionally resonant direction.

Speaking about the song, Winfield reveals, “’YOU’ is the most simple song I have ever written. I don’t mean it was the easiest — in fact, it required a level of vulnerability that I often avoid,” Winfield says.

“It has taken me a long, long time to realize that behind all the white noise and clutter of my busy mind, there is a lot of peace. I just have to remember to forget myself. My only way to do that? Gratitude. ‘YOU’ is a giant thank you, for many, many things — too many to mention — but they all live under one roof: to be alive. Simple.”

The video for “YOU” offers an equally poignant narrative. It features Vishal Kashyap, a young dancer from Madhya Pradesh, India, who discovered Until The Ribbon Breaks during the COVID-19 lockdown. His connection to the music and his determination to pursue dance despite social barriers inspired Winfield to collaborate with him from across the world.

Filmed remotely, the video captures Vishal dancing barefoot through an abandoned temple, his movements accompanied by soaring birds. The resulting clip is a raw and powerful visual that transcends geography, culture, and language.

“The visual for ‘YOU’ is not my story to tell,” Winfield shares. “This video belongs to someone who is now very special to me, someone who reached out to me one day from many, many miles away to share his story and remarkable talent. Asking him to collaborate with me wasn’t even a choice — it was an immediate visceral reaction. How can someone transmit so much power, strength, and vulnerability all at once, without ever saying a word? My magical friend, Vishal Kashyap.”
