In a groundbreaking milestone for Indian cinema, Deepika Padukone has been named to the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2026, becoming the first Indian actor to be honoured with a star in the Motion Pictures category.

The announcement was made during a live-streamed ceremony by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the prestigious Walk of Fame. Padukone joins an illustrious roster of honorees this year, including Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Rachel McAdams, Rami Malek, and Stanley Tucci, all selected for their significant contributions to film.

With this induction, Deepika Padukone not only elevates her own global stature but also marks a defining moment for Indian representation on Hollywood’s most storied sidewalk.

The Walk of Fame, located on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, is one of the entertainment industry’s highest public honors, with over 2,700 stars awarded since its inception. Inductees are chosen from hundreds of annual nominations across five categories: motion pictures, television, music, live performance, and sports entertainment.

Padukone’s recognition in the Motion Pictures category reflects her growing footprint in global entertainment. She made her Hollywood debut in 2017 with “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”, starring opposite Vin Diesel. The performance introduced her to international audiences and reinforced her status as a versatile and bankable star. Back home, she remains one of the most celebrated actresses of her generation, with critically and commercially successful roles in films like “Padmaavat”, “Piku” and “Chhapaak”.

More recently, she played DCP Shakti Shetty in “Singham Again”, part of director Rohit Shetty’s popular action franchise, and will next appear in “King”, reuniting her onscreen with actor Shah Rukh Khan. Beyond her film work, Deepika Padukone is known for her mental health advocacy and global ambassador roles for major luxury and wellness brands, making her a visible and influential figure well beyond the silver screen.

The 2026 Walk of Fame class also includes actors Sarah Michelle Gellar, Molly Ringwald, Noah Wyle, sports icon Shaquille O’Neal, and posthumous recognitions for filmmaker Tony Scott and special effects legend Carlo Rambaldi. A joint star will also be awarded to Good Morning America co-hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.

The official unveiling of Padukone’s star is expected to take place in 2026, with a formal ceremony attended by Hollywood Chamber of Commerce officials, industry peers, and the public. As the first Indian actor to receive this honor, her star will stand as a permanent testament to both her talent and her trailblazing role in broadening the reach of Indian cinema on the global stage.
