NBC is closing the case on Suits LA. The legal drama franchise has been canceled after just one season, sources tell Variety.
A spinoff of the original Suits series, Suits LA premiered in February this year with hopes of riding the wave of renewed interest in the franchise following its record-breaking streaming success on Netflix. But despite the built-in brand recognition and an aggressive promotional push, including guest appearances from fan-favorite original cast members, the series struggled to gain traction both on air and online.
Starring Stephen Amell as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor turned elite Los Angeles attorney, the series failed to deliver on its promise of prestige legal drama with a West Coast edge. Ratings remained flat throughout its run, with linear viewership hovering around 1 million in Live+Same Day metrics. Efforts to goose numbers, including a Thursday night marathon block in March and stunt casting from the original Suits lineup, had little lasting impact.

Gabriel Macht reprised his iconic role as Harvey Specter in a three-episode arc, while Rick Hoffman (Louis Litt) and David Costabile (Daniel Hardman) also returned in later episodes. Still, the nostalgia factor wasn’t enough to overcome lukewarm critical reception and limited audience engagement. This marks the second failed Suits spinoff after Pearson, which aired for one season on USA Network in 2019.
Produced by Universal Content Productions and created by Suits architect Aaron Korsh, Suits LA also starred Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, Bryan Greenberg, Rachelle Goulding, Azita Ghanizada, Troy Winbush, Maggie Grace and Alice Lee. The ensemble included recurring roles from Sofia Pernas and Matt Letscher, and guest stars ranging from Patton Oswalt to the late John Amos in one of his final performances.
The cancellation comes ahead of NBC’s upfront presentation on May 12 and amid a larger wave of programming cuts, as the network makes room for NBA coverage under a massive new deal with the league. Suits LA now joins The Irrational, Found, Night Court, and Lopez vs. Lopez among the titles dropped from NBC’s 2025-26 lineup.
Aaron Korsh is the creator and executive producer of Suits and Suits LA. David Bartis, Doug Liman, Gene Klein, Anton Cropper, Genevieve Sparling, Rick Muirragui, and Jon Cowan also executive produce. The series is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Despite strong IP and returning talent, Suits LA ultimately couldn’t win its case.
