Yungblud has officially announced his fourth studio album, IDOLS, slated for release on June 20 via Locomotion/Capitol Records. Marking a return to his punk-rock roots, the album promises a raw and rebellious examination of modern-day hero worship.

With IDOLS, Yungblud confronts the culture of celebrity obsession and the constant search for identity through others. “We compare ourselves to 15 different people before we’ve even had our breakfast,” he said in a statement, highlighting the emotional toll of social comparison in the digital age.

It’s the kind of quote that lands like a gut punch in the age of infinite doom scrolling. The album unpacks themes of self-worth, disillusionment, and the collapse of constructed icons, challenging listeners to reclaim their own narratives.

Recorded in a stripped-back setting near his childhood hometown in northern England, IDOLS was crafted in collaboration with producer Matt Schwartz, alongside longtime partners Bob Bradley and Adam Warrington. The result is a 13-track meticulous collection that strips back the gloss to reveal something more jagged, personal, and defiantly introspective.

Lead singles “Lovesick Lullaby” and “Hello Heaven, Hello” offer a glimpse into the project’s sonic breadth and emotional weight, fusing cinematic arrangements with Yungblud’s signature volatility. Even the vinyl variants, titled “Distant Smoke” and “Wishing Well”, carry the conceptual weight of the album’s myth-breaking ethos.

The IDOLS World Tour kicks off August 23 in Los Angeles, with additional North American dates to follow. Tickets are officially on general sale (May 9)—get yours while they last. By the time June arrives, Yungblud may have you questioning who you look up to at all.
