New Zealand pop powerhouse ASHY traces the surreal highs and sobering realities of breaking into the global music scene on bold anthem “Gucci & Louis.”
Laden with plenty of honesty and rooted in her signature power pop, the track was born after ASHY’s first time performing at SXSW, drawing from a whirlwind of new experiences and perspectives to unfurl a sweet tale of her musical journey.
A poignant description of disorienting moments where ambition and access collide where introspective lyricism is paired with a slick, hook-laden production, the track is a shimmering confessional anthem that comes to life as an empowering statement of ASHY’s intent to step into her sonic potential without losing her sense of self.
Speaking of the track, ASHY says “After SXSW, I went to L.A. for a week after and went through a whirlwind of new experiences and gained a perspective on the industry. It was overwhelming because I had performed for the first time outside of my country on a very serious level. Opportunities were really coming my way. It felt like everything was at my fingertips, but it was really scary at the same time. I was being let inside the gates of the industry and could finally see everything for what it is.”
